A UNIVERSE OF CONVERSE CHUCK TAYLOR ALL STARS

The gift that keeps on giving. A timeless, instantly recognizable style, the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star is one of the most iconic shoes around. Here you will find various versions of the classic punky kicks for men, women, and kids. There’s the OG high-top style, as well as mid tops and low tops. There are the endless colorways and fresh design adaptations of the old-skool shoe, with modern lightweight materials and new-style reinterpretations of the vintage kicks. BUT, despite all the updates to the classic Chuck Taylor All Star of 1918, the basic design has stayed more or less the same. It’s like survival of the fittest – the best features have stood the test of time. In fact, it’s exactly those classic details – the side patch with the star and autograph, the round white top cap, the chunky outsole, the rear pull tab, etc. – that make it such an emblem to this day.

The OG Converse Chuck Taylor All Star has actually been around for more than a century, and it’s some story.

THE ORIGINS OF THE CHUCK TAYLOR ALL STAR

Though Chuck Taylor high tops have been rocking the streets for so long, they actually started out on the b-ball courts. In fact, they pretty much owned the b-ball courts. They came about to stop legendary player-come-brand ambassador Chuck Taylor from complaining about sore feet on the court. Chuck was so important in the design and development of the shoes that his signature was added to a side patch in 1932, where it remains to this day. The Converse Chuck Taylor All Star was the basketball shoe, and the official kicks of the NBA right up until the late ’70s when Nike and adidas came in with their higher-tech, leather alternatives. At that point, the All Stars left the court and hit the streets. BIG time.

CHUCK TAYLOR ALL STARS = A TRUE CULT ICON

After leaving the hardwood, the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star found a new home in the ’80s and ’90s grunge rock scene and the brand started to diversify its range. They soon entered pop culture, where they have remained ever since, growing in popularity from appearances in films and TV like Back to the Future and Stranger Things, and huge collaborations with stars like Miley Cyrus.

The All Stars have become cult icons and loved world over for their vintage, punky vibes and versatility. Both the original versions and the more recent updates can be worn with anything and add an eye-catching, statement touch when they are. It’s a look that has weathered the test of time and will for sure continue to do so. Simply timeless.
